Mangoes are always one of the most anticipated summer fruits in Australia. I am really looking forward to discovering and tasting different types of mangoes in US too! On my weekly grocery trip to Wegmans I came across a new type of mango that I have probably missed last summer…It says Tree Ripened Mango on its label :)… so I guess the fruit stays longer on the tree in the ripening process, to get a sweeter flesh in the fruit and an overall better flavor. Correct me, please, if I am wrong 🙂
Well, their flesh is really sweet and they are full of juice, so would be the perfect choice if you want a mango juice. The only down side of this type of mango is that although the flesh is firm it is not fibre-free, so you’ll get a lot of bits stuck in your teeth that will drive you mad for hours… Just saying….
Being that sweet…hurray! I needed to add an orange, just to break that sweetness a little bit and a touch of spicy fresh ginger. Add a couple of refreshing mint flavored ice cubes and here you have a perfect summery, refreshing juice!
- 2 large ripe mangoes
- 1 orange
- 2-inch piece of fresh ginger
- mint flavored ice cubes for serving/ normal ice cubes
- Peel the mangoes, remove the seeds and cut them into large chunks
- Peel the orange and fresh ginger
- Juice them together.
- Add ice cubes and serve!
