To prepare Slow Cooker Cranberry Pork Roast, I recommend using a slow cooker as it makes the cooking process easy and convenient. This recipe is perfect for busy days when you don’t have much time to spend in the kitchen. The cooking process is simple and straightforward, and the end result is a delicious and tender pork loin.

If you love this flavor combination, there’s also a juicy Crock Pot Cranberry Pork Loin version that works beautifully. The long, slow cooking turns the roast fork-tender while the cranberries melt into a sweet-tart sauce that doubles as a gravy. It is festive enough for Thanksgiving or Christmas, yet simple enough for any busy weeknight.

Ingredients

  • 4-5 pound pork loin
  • 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
  • 1 cup French dressing
  • 1 (14 ounce) can cranberry sauce
  • Dried cranberry and parsley for garnish

How to Make Slow Cooked Pork Loin

To begin, mix the cranberry sauce, French dressing and onion soup mix in a small bowl until combined. Stir these ingredients until mixed.

For a citrusy twist, I sometimes add a bit of orange sauce to the mixture. It gives the dish a bright and zesty flavor that complements the sweetness of the cranberry sauce.

To begin, I rub the pork loin with olive oil and season it with salt and pepper. Then, I place the pork loin in the slow cooker and pour the cranberry sauce mixture over the top. I make sure to spread the mixture evenly over the top of the meat.

Next, I set the slow cooker to medium heat and cook the pork loin for 6 hours. If you’re short on time, you can also cook it on medium-high heat for 4 hours. The slow cooking process allows the pork loin to become tender and juicy, while the cranberry sauce adds a sweet and tangy flavor to the meat.

Once done, remove the pork loin from the slow cooker and place it on a platter. Cover it with foil to keep it warm.

Finally, measure 2 cups of liquid from the slow cooker and pour it into a saucepan. Bring the liquid to a boil and let it simmer until it thickens into a sauce. Drizzle the sauce over the pork loin before serving.

If you prefer to use a pressure cooker, you can also make this recipe in a pressure cooker. Simply follow the same steps as above, but cook the pork loin on high pressure for 60-70 minutes.

Overall, Slow Cooker Cranberry Pork Loin is an easy and flavorful recipe that is perfect for any occasion. Whether you’re cooking for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion, this recipe is sure to impress.

Leftovers and Storage

When it comes to leftovers, cranberry pork roast is just as delicious the next day. I usually store any leftover pork in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

If you’re looking for ways to use up the leftovers, try making a sandwich with the pork and some crusty bread. You could also chop up the pork and use it as a topping for a salad.

When it comes to storing the pork in the freezer, I recommend placing it in a freezer bag and labeling it with the date. It will keep well in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Additional Tips for Best Results

When it comes to making slow cooked cranberry pork roast, there are a few tips that can help you achieve the best results possible. Here are some of my top tips for cooking this delicious fall dish:

  • Choose the right cut of pork: While pork loin is the most popular cut of meat for this dish, you can also use pork shoulder or pork tenderloin. Keep in mind that different cuts of meat will require different cooking times, so adjust accordingly.
  • Brown the meat first: For extra flavor and texture, consider browning the pork loin in a skillet before adding it to the slow cooker. This will help create a crispy outer layer that contrasts nicely with the tender meat.
  • Add a little liquid: While the cranberry sauce will provide some liquid, you may want to add a little extra to prevent the pork loin from drying out. Chicken broth, apple cider, or even beer can all work well.
  • Cook on low for best results: While you can cook this dish on high, I recommend cooking it on low for 6-8 hours for the best results. This will allow the flavors to fully develop and the meat to become incredibly tender.
  • Experiment with flavors: While cranberry is the star of this dish, you can also experiment with other fall flavors like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Consider adding these spices to the cranberry sauce for an extra burst of flavor.
